New Referrals are accepted and processed via our New Patient Enquiry Form.
Please be aware that any referrals sent via direct email will not be processed.
Appointments for your child can only be booked once the New Patient Enquiry Form has been completed.
Not Always
As part of our team care model, your first appointment at Paediatric People is typically with one of our specialist GPs. As well as providing a key first step in your child’s care, our GPs will be able to provide your referral as your care progresses on to a paediatrician.
Sometimes, your child may be triaged to see a paediatrician in the first instance. On these occasions, we will inform you that you must bring a referral to your initial consultation if you don’t already have one.
Referrals from your GP are generally valid for 12 months. Referrals from other doctors (other specialists) are valid for 3 months.
No. Instead, please complete our New Patient Enquiry Form. This allows us to carefully review your referral and assign an appropriate appointment for you and your child.
After you submit the new patient enquiry form, your child’s information will be carefully triaged. This will occur during business hours.
You will then receive an email from the practice asking you to call us to book your child’s appointment.
Autism and ADHD are medical diagnoses and can only be formally made by a paediatrician or psychiatrist. We will carefully review any information or reports from your allied health team, and combine this with history and observation to best understand your child.
If we confirm a diagnosis, we will then talk to you about treatment approaches and consider the ways to best support your child, for instance, applications to NDIS, consideration of medicine.
If you are a current patient of the clinic, please call our friendly reception team to book a review appointment, on 9088 3011. Please note, if you have not been seen for 12 months, you will need to bring a new referral if you are seeing a paediatrician, and we advise you to book a long appointment.
Please complete the Script Request Form. Please allow 7 business days for script requests to be processed.
We offer a variety of paediatric services, including:
At Paediatric People, we have a unique and considered approach to children’s health, founded on team care. Our priority is to provide holistic, personalised care to your child, without long wait lists.
Your first appointment will typically be with one of our specialist General Practitioners, who are highly experienced in paediatric care and work in close collaboration with our paediatricians. Our GPs normally spend an hour with you and your child to take a comprehensive history, initiate care, and organise relevant assessments. This appointment is an integral part of our paediatric care and is distinct from the work done by your regular GP. Our process allows us to see your child quickly and to ‘get the ball rolling’ on critical assessments and treatments, so your child’s health can be optimised, and the paediatrician has the critical information at their fingertips.
For your child’s appointment, please bring:
Yes, we have a dedicated Baby Clinic in which we provide care for newborns and infants, up to the age of 18 months.
A developmental assessment is a thorough evaluation of your child’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Your first appointment is typically with our specialist GP who uses a combination of history, observations, questionnaires, and diagnostic tools to identify any potential concerns and create a tailored plan to support your child’s development.
In case of an emergency or urgent medical concern, please contact your nearest hospital emergency department or call 000. For non-urgent advice, we recommend scheduling an appointment during our regular business hours, or you are welcome to call the clinic to speak with our nurse on Mondays and Wednesdays.
